ANIMAL WELFARE - CURRENTLY NO VACANCY
Role: Volunteers are required to work in the kennels and veterinary centre, carrying out a range of tasks that support the general health and wellbeing of the dogs.
Duties: Supporting the daily routine of the kennels and veterinary centre staff, carrying out checks on the dogs, cleaning kennels and maintaining standards, attending to the needs of individual dogs (e.g. grooming and nail-clipping) and taking general care of the animals in the kennels and veterinary centre
Person Specification: Over 18, reliable, confident in handling dogs, interest in animal welfare and care, professional and able to work as part of an effective team
ANIMAL WELFARE (CATTERY) – CURRENTLY NO VACANCY
Role: Volunteers are required to work in the cattery, carrying out a range of tasks that support the general health and wellbeing of the cats.
Duties: Supporting the daily routine of the cattery, carrying out checks on the cats, cleaning, feeding and maintaining standards, attending to the needs of individual cats (e.g. grooming and socialisation) and taking general care of the animals in the cattery
Person Specification: Over 18, reliable, confident in handling cats, interest in animal welfare and care, professional and able to work as part of an effective team
EVENTS AND CHARITY AWARENESS - CURRENT VACANCY
Role: Volunteers are required to organise and support a programme of fundraising events and raise awareness of Stray Aid in the community.
Duties: Generating new ideas for fundraising, organising events, transporting dogs to events in Stray Aid vehicles, working with a range of organisations, attending fundraising events and promoting the work of the charity
Person Specification: Reliable, ability to organise and/or assist with events, good communication skills and confidence working with dogs and the public, professional and able to work as part of an effective team
RECEPTION - CURRENTLY NO VACANCY
Role: Volunteers are required to work in reception, providing friendly and efficient customer service in a busy environment both in person and over the telephone
Duties: Greeting staff, volunteers, customers and visitors, answering the telephone, dealing with enquiries, providing excellent service to customers
Person Specification: Over 18, reliable, good administration skills with attention to detail, good communication, customer care skills, professional and able to work as part of an effective team
RE-HOMING ADMINSTRATION - CURRENTLY NO VACANCY
Role: Volunteers are required to support the administration of the re-homing process
Duties: Supporting customers through the rehoming process, completing re-homing and pet plan insurance paperwork, providing advice on introducing a dog to a new home and collating all documentation when dogs are re-homed
Person Specification: Over 18, reliable, good administration skills with attention to detail, good communication, customer care skills, professional and able to work as part of an effective team
ADMINISTRATION SUPPORT - CURRENTLY NO VACANCY
Role: Volunteers are required to support a variety of administration processes within the charity
Duties: A variety of administrative tasks including filing, maintaining databases, keeping records and rotas up to date, updating the website and communicating on social media
Person Specification: Reliable, administration and IT experience, organisational and written communication skills, professional and able to work as part of an effective team
IT, PR AND MARKETING - CURRENTLY NO VACANCY
Role: Volunteers are required to market and promote the work of the charity through local networks, media and social media channels
Duties: Developing the charity’s social media communication channels, publicising the charity’s work through local and national networks, developing links with the corporate sector and increasing the charity’s presence in local media
Person Specification: Reliable, IT experience, excellent verbal and written communication skills, confidence in working with a range of organisations and networks, professional and able to work as part of an effective team
CHARITY SHOPS - CURRENT VACANCY
Role: Volunteers are required to work in Stray Aid’s charity shops, which are based in Seaham and Blackhall
Duties: Welcoming and assisting customers, managing and displaying stock, serving customers, handling transactions and keeping the shop clean and tidy
Person Specification: Over 18, reliable, confidence in working with the public, verbal communication skills, professional and able to work as part of an effective team
